List of volunteering needs
We welcome you to join in the comradery with the future forge community by being an individual volunteer and/or joining us for work parties as we knock out large projects to improve the space's functional and energetic creativity.
Working parties will be announced on Slack, you can add to the spaces good energy by becoming an individual volunteering any time.
Please review the possible volunteer positions that we want community participation and help with. If you would like to volunteer, fill out the Future Forge Volunteer Application and Submit it, we'll be in contact.

POSITION: Front Desk
YOUTH/ADULT OPPORTUNITY: Youth and Adult

SPECIFIC SKILLS: friendly, social
DESCRIPTION: Welcome new members, guests, and visitors that want to learn more about the Future Forge. Hand out pamphlets with Future Forge information to visitors.
POSITION: Facility Cleaning Lead
YOUTH/ADULT OPPORTUNITY: Youth and Adult

HOW OFTEN NEEDED: once or twice a month or less, depending on number of volunteers
SPECIFIC SKILLS: detail-oriented, cleaning skills
DESCRIPTION: The facility cleaning volunteers are responsible for helping us put our best foot forward. Once a week, one of these volunteers will come to the makerspace, empty trash, sweep, wipe down common areas & doors, clean the bathroom, etc, so that our facility is ready for the youth and community that we support.
POSITION: Art Garden Lead(s) & Assistant(s)
YOUTH/ADULT OPPORTUNITY: Older youth and adult

HOW OFTEN NEEDED: once or twice a week or less
SPECIFIC SKILLS: outdoor-oriented, gardening knowledge
DESCRIPTION: The Art Garden team will work on the grove and land on the east side of the property. Assist with creating paths, watering, and cultivating the garden space as well as creating outside art installations areas.
POSITION: 3D Printing Lead(s) & Assistant(s)
YOUTH/ADULT OPPORTUNITY: Older youth and adult

HOW OFTEN NEEDED: once or twice a month or less
SPECIFIC SKILLS: detail-oriented, computer skills, 3D printing skills
DESCRIPTION: The 3D Printing team members keep our technical equipment running like finely-oiled machines. They will maintain and test the 3D printers, recalibrating them as needed.
POSITION: Computer Lab and Electronics Area Lead(s) & Assistant(s)
YOUTH/ADULT OPPORTUNITY: Older youth and adult

HOW OFTEN NEEDED: once or twice a month or less
SPECIFIC SKILLS: detail-oriented, computer and/or electronic knowledge
DESCRIPTION: The Computer/Electronics team members keep our technical equipment running like finely-oiled machines. They will maintain and organize the electronics area and insure equipment is functional as well as keep the computers functional and virus free.
POSITION: Textile Arts Lead(s) & Assistant(s)
YOUTH/ADULT OPPORTUNITY: Older youth and adult

HOW OFTEN NEEDED: once or twice a month or less
SPECIFIC SKILLS: detail-oriented, textile & sewing knowledge
DESCRIPTION: The Textile Arts team will work in the textile area to ensure the area is kept in order and machines are working properly and can be operated safely.
POSITION: Laser & Wazer Lead(s) & Assistant(s)
YOUTH/ADULT OPPORTUNITY: Older youth and adult

HOW OFTEN NEEDED: once or twice a month or less
SPECIFIC SKILLS: detail-oriented, computer and mechanical skills, laser and wazer machine skills
DESCRIPTION: The lazer and wazer team members keep our technical equipment running like finely-oiled machines. They will maintain and test the lazer and wazer, recalibrating them as needed.
POSITION: Lapidary & Jewelry Area Lead(s) & Assistant(s)
YOUTH/ADULT OPPORTUNITY: Older youth and adult

SPECIFIC SKILLS: detail-oriented, mechanical skills, lapidary grinders, cutters, and general machine skills
DESCRIPTION: The lapidary/jewelry area team members keep our mechanical lapidary equipment running like finely-oiled machines and hand tools in working order. They will maintain and test the lapidary equipment, insuring they are in safe and proper operating condition.
POSITION: Metal Shop Area Lead(s) & Assistant(s)
YOUTH/ADULT OPPORTUNITY: Older youth and adult

DESCRIPTION: The metal shop area team members keep our metal shop equipment running like finely-oiled machines and hand tools in working order. They will maintain and test the metal working equipment, insuring they are in safe and proper operating condition.
POSITION: Wood Shop Area Lead(s) & Assistant(s)
YOUTH/ADULT OPPORTUNITY: Older youth and adult

SPECIFIC SKILLS: detail-oriented, computer, mechanical skills, and general machine skills
DESCRIPTION: The wood shop area team members keep our wood shop and CNC equipment running like finely-oiled machines and hand tools in working order. They will maintain and test the wood working and cnc equipment, insuring they are in safe and proper operating condition.
POSITION: Makerspace Organization Lead
YOUTH/ADULT OPPORTUNITY: Older youth and Adult

HOW OFTEN NEEDED: once or twice a month
SPECIFIC SKILLS: detail-oriented, organizational skills
DESCRIPTION: A makerspace is an unruly beast always seeking to collapse into chaos. These volunteers are the heroes that fight that chaos by organizing. They find a place for everything, and help make things flow more smoothly in the space. This person will also help maintain inventory counts in the facility, ensuring we keep things that we use in stock.
POSITION: Makerspace Donations Lead
YOUTH/ADULT OPPORTUNITY: Older youth and Adult
# VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 1-2
HOW OFTEN NEEDED: once or twice a month
SPECIFIC SKILLS: detail-oriented, organizational skills
DESCRIPTION: A makerspace may receive large and small donations of goods that need to be sorted and stored to keep the space as organized as possible. There will be an order that the donations will follow, e.g. estimated value, can the future forge use it, can a member use it, should it be part of a garage sale, should it go to the Re-Store, should it go to the dump, etc. This person will help organize the donation supply chain.
