The space to sew, knit, and weave to create clothing, costumes, art, etc. We encourage members to hang their work for a while, so we can be inspired by them. Quilters in particular will find our cutting mats, rotary cutters, and quilt wall will support their creativity. We are in search of a long-arm machine, if you find one. Whether you need just a few scraps to prototype something, or a more involved project, we have extensive collections of fabric dye, embroidery floss, screen printing ink, buttons, machine embroidery thread, quilting cotton and more to fuel your creativity. ### Equipment #### Domestic Sewing Machines Aside from one major difference (front load or top load bobbin) most sewing machines operate in the same basic way. Future Forge training is generalized to them all. Modern machines are a little bit simpler for the beginner to use, but classic machines are better for heavy duty jobs. All of our modern and classic machines can do zig-zag stitch, and most support a variety of pre-programmed patterns. Antique machines are great to study and look at, but may require significant refurbishment before use. [Beginner Guide to Serging](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crrKtd98j68). #### Embroidery Machine A normal sewing machine ‘by day’, embroidery machine ‘by night’, members who have been checked out for domestic sewing machines are encouraged to experiment with our Singer Futura CE150 Embroidery Machine. There is a laptop nearby with the control software installed. The ‘built-in’ designs may be simplistic, but custom designs can be produced using software available in-house.
